History of the Johnson City Church of God
The Johnson City Church of God was organized June 17, 1919 near Oak Hill Cemetery by Rev. L. C. Yates. The church moved seven times before eventually settling on Division Street in 1942. The church remained on Division Street for twenty-seven years. In 1975 the church moved to 1908 Indian Ridge Road. A new church was constructed with a seating capacity of over 500. In 1985 the church began to experience such growth, subsequently additional construction enlarged worship capacity.
